I love creating ceramic work using my Raku technique because it emphasizes simple forms with simple lines and shapes to create visual intrigue and movement.
The glazed surfaces resemble abstract paintings due to the glazes interacting with the fire during the Raku process leaving unusual flame patterns on the pieces.
I am excited about my new series of work, the result of fumed, textured and glazed surfaces creating visual movement and depth. Plus adding the excitement of the randomness of the firing process representing the collaboration between water, earth and fire.
