Traditionally trained as a figure painter, Megan Swartz catapulted onto the scene by pushing the boundaries of her traditional foundation. Experimenting with color and bold contemporary expressions, Swartz is inspired by a mix of nature and the avant-garde influences she finds in music, fashion and urban culture. She began her career creating bold graphic prints as a silk screen artist. The Southern California native has transferred these techniques into the more ethereal process of working within ink media.
Diving into her gorgeous saturated pigments, Swartz is an artist of great perspective. If the subject is singular, she will "blow it up", diving into the nuances of a macro world before her, gently abstracting the periphery to get to the heart of the piece. Otherwise, Swartz offers a "wider view" in which the vantage point is ever free and flowing like the California coastline where she lives and works. An independent spirit with undeniable strength, Swartz is here to stay as a modern contemporary artist loved by many individuals and corporate collectors.
